Times they are achanging
I had plans this weekend, but thanks to the storms I'm at home(pout). As you know Cecils and my b-day was Monday.I wanted to take Jon shopping today, then go eat out tonight. But due to a change in the weather,we had to stay home.
For some reason our storm season is now anytime of the year. When we were growing up we had snow in the winter,in April we had showers,in May we had flowers. In the summer we had storms or rain every 2 or 3 weeks.
Now we have storms at anytime, floods instead of showers and cold in May.We no longer have a spring,it's either cold or hot.In the fall we have more of the same.
The local news tonight,a small town called Dumas was hit by a tornado or a very strong storm, they aren't sure which. No one was hurt at least.Someone bigger than us was watching over this town.
When Jon and I were shopping it started hailing when we were in the store. The people were going crazy.Their car's were getting hit(oh my).I say the heck with car's.......What about the people out in it,or the animals?Something seems a little wrong with this picture......
Since when did possession's become more important than people or animals?
The world is changing and I don't like it.Since I'm not ready to leave this world.....I'll do my best to change my part of it.
Most of you know that I'm a waitress at a local restaurant.I see a lot of people there that are lonely.I know because they spend a lot of time away from home.I try to speak to each one when they come in the door where I work.I want them to know I see them and know they are there.
It keeps me smiling and makes them smile too. This is what we're missing today.
What ever happened to knowing your neighbors, and the kids playing at home or down the street. We always knew if we did something wrong that Mama would know before we got home, and we'd better tell her before she asked.
What happened to us that we are afraid to correct our kids, because someone would call the police if we do.I knew growing up that if I did something wrong in public,I got a spanking in public.I learned my lesson a lot quicker too believe me.I never hated my parents or the neighbors or my teachers in school.
I'm not talking about beating a child,I'm talking about a swat on the behind or a swat on the hand.It might hurt your pride for a while but you remembered it longer.
I want to know if the kids that are taking guns to school were corrected at home or just heard,I quote"You know you shouldn't do that",In a whinny voice I might add.I have saw toddlers and young children slap their mothers in the face and scream at them. The parent would say (above quote).I've seen 11 -13 year old kids get down in the floor and have kicking and screaming fits when they don't get what they want.
We as parents are not teaching our kids to control themselves. The kids are controlling the parents nowadays. Its because a very small group of educated people have decided that spanking a child causes mental problems as an adult.I personally think they are the ones that need a trip behind the woodshed.I think the world would be a better place. We all need reminded that we all answer to someone when we do wrong.....if not in this life then later on.
I guess I've rambled on enough for one night, and I realize a few people will not agree with me.
But you better look around people, for times are achanging. Not necessarily for the better.
This picture is of our momma, she was about 13 at this time.
It was taken at a carnival,we still have one every August.Right after school starts.....
Sorry,I didn't mean to rant and rave.....

Amen Sister! Preach on! I agree with you about the kids... I've often wondered if they know that they're setting their kids up for failure and not only that, where will those kids be someday? In jail? Pretty much doing whatever they want I'm sure....Sad.. Huh? Anyways... Sorry you missed your dinner out tonight.. I was home praying to stay alive for a bit. The lightning was bad for a while over here. But we made it through...Thank you< Lord!! Anyways...hope you get your dinner out soon... Love ya more... Cecil
You know how I feel about disciplining kids, so I'll leave it at that. :-)
Sorry you got hailed on. If it did any hailing here I didn't know about it. I did rain like pouring pee out of a boot, though.
I have no idea if Jessica will be here tomorrow or not...or anybody else, for that matter. ;D
Sorry you missed out on your supper out. Maybe soon...
Love you more than that old heifer above me there...LOL! ;D
Joe
P.S. Tell Tam that we will pray for Luci... As for that rude comment above...I DON'T THINK SO! We share a birthday and birthmark and she is OLDER than me... humph..LOL
Thanks a lot sisters...sometimes I get carried away...I have a soft heart, not a soft head.We seem well adjusted in spite of our spankings..LOL
I still loved Mom and Daddy, because I knew they loved us.
Ok Sisters!!! NO FIGHTING!!!!
Behave your selfs!!
I'll take care of Cecil when I see her tomorrow...*(blows raspberries)* Hee hee! ;D
I'll bet you do!!!

Way to to hon, I agree with everything you said in your blog. I know that the "hello's" and "how are you's" are appreciated because I have a lot of people tell me about it and I am always proud. Tell your two sisters to stop fighting on here or I will get into the middle of it and you DON'T even want that to happen...lol. Love you and your sisters a lot.
Your hubby
Thanks greeneyes,I am happy you dropped by to see me.I wondered where you been hiding.I thought your cable may be out or you were bit by the flu or cold bug....
I just wish more people could see what is happening around them..A smile and a Hello doesn't cost a thing, and it might make someones day a little brighter...
come back and see me friend
Donna
Okay, Big John...just bring it on, whenever you think you're up to it! LOL ;D
You know we haven't come to blows in a long, long time. We might fuss amongst ourselves, all 5 of us, but let anybody else pick on one of us and you'll have all of us in your eyes like black pepper, as Mama used to say.
By the way, Big John, come on up and see me sometime. You do remember where I live, don't you? If you give me enough notice I might even cook for you. :-)
And I agree, most of those people who come to the diner where Donna works aren't really there for the coffee or the meals, they're there for some fellowship and some companionship.
Love y'all more than Cecil. ;D
Goodness!
You ladies certainly have fun with each other!!
As I told Cecil earlier, (and have told Diane many times): you are so lucky to have each other. Such a blessing!
:)
Good times! I adore old black and white pictures. Your family looks like a lot of fun and very loving.
Thanks for stopping by my place so I could visit yours!
I love meeting new and interesting people!

Hmmmm I always wanted a sister...now I'm not so sure! LOL Donna, I agree with everything you said in your post about how times are changing and not for the better. The government got involved in how we were to discipline our children and look at them now...parents don't seem to have control of their kids anymore. I love it that you take the time to talk with your customers...some of these people probably live alone and appreciate the time you give them:-) xox
i know what you mean moma you spanked me and frankie when we was kids until we got a certain age, sometimes we still need it lol.i cant believe how the government has said all that junk but thats i guess what we pay taxes for!!and yes it nice to hear someone say hello it makes people of all ages feel wanted, and tell lisa i said thank you for praying for luci....im glad that you made me the way i am mom cause god knows i wasnt an angel when i was a kid...and the way things is going now days it scares me to death how some parents just let there kids go hog wild!!! i want to thank you for making me mind, even though i was rebelious it took along time to realize that you were always right in everything ive ever done in my life,i only wish someone else would realize it....love ya love tami
The pictures brought me back to a day when my folks and grandparents were still around. thx! ~ jb///
AMEN to all this post! Beauitful picture of your mom too.. all your family pics are wonderful....and I enjoy reading about them and all of you fine and good people! I sure hope our spring isn't too rough hon...but I agree this weather is freaky and nasty so soon. I will be praying for the Lord to protect you all from bad storms. Love ya...
love the pictures
Awesome post! you said some things that really need to be said!
I am in total agreement with your ideas on discipline. The Bible even says that a man who does not discipline his son, does not love him. If my kids got out of hand in public, that's where they were disciplined, whether it was a smack on the bottom, or a stern talking to.
Who are the man and woman in the two top photos. Those are precious photos by the way.
AMEN!! I couldn't agree more!! I think discipline needs to be done and you don't necessarily have to spank a child to acheive it. My nephews spank their kids sometimes but often they use time outs or take away a privilege and it seems to work fine. Plus they are there to spend quality time with their children. So many parents these days just want their kids out of the way and they don't care what they are doing or where they are, as long as they aren't bothering them. Sad isn't it?? My Mom used to use what she called, "a good keen switch" on us! Them things do smart, let me tell you!! It made you think the next time!!
You are so right, things are changing and not necessarily for the better, not at all.
hey sweetie..hope no twisters came knocking last night! There should be a little package for ya today or tomorrow on your porch...and I tucked a little something in it for your lil sis Diane too so ya gotta share now...have a great day Donna! Love, Jen
I love your heart, Donna. It's in the right place. Bless you for not being afraid to be yourself.
